Our Welding and Powder Research team is organized within Strategic Research and focuses on alloy and application development. We are a dynamic organization with dedicated teams consisting of a diverse range of motivated technicians, engineers, specialists and experts who combine their efforts in developing world leading material solutions for current and future customer demands.
We are now looking for a goal-oriented and driven R&D Engineer with focus on welding to strengthen our team in the mission to solve material challenges of the future. We offer you an inspiring research environment at the frontline of several exciting areas of technology.
Job Summary
As R&D Engineer you lead and participate in various projects ranging from strategic alloy development, solving manufacturing process related issues to application development in collaboration with customers. You will work closely with all divisions within SMT supporting mainly welding but also powder metallurgy development, as well as establishing contacts with relevant parts of SMT where our competence can be utilized to solve complex problems for customers or improve our own productivity and profitability.
Our projects and assignments are based on technical requirements and demands from both external customers and the internal sales & marketing organization. You enjoy leading projects, including collaborating and communicating with multiple stakeholders maintaining qualitative and prosperous relationships.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a Master of Science (MSc.) degree, or better, in materials science, metallurgy, physics or chemistry. A specialization in welding such as an International Welding Engineer (IWE) diploma is highly merited and a proven track record from from materials research, process and product/application development is advantageous. Since you will actively participate in technical discussion in an international context within the competence area, excellent communication skills in English is a prerequisite for the position, and knowledge in Swedish is desirable.

You can analyze and solve complex problems, with strong ability to present these at an adapted level for recipients with varying technical background. With your outgoing personality and communicative skills, you enjoy the opportunity to lead projects, represent our business in multiple forums and presenting to large audiences. In addition, you are an excellent team player – you act with integrity, trust and build strong relations with our stakeholders.
