We at Outokumpu are now looking for a Research & Development Engineer within Welding & Fatigue located in Avesta, Sweden.
As Engineer in an international research team, you will lead R&D projects supporting our R&D must-win battle creating future products and sustainable production process technologies. With a high-quality mix of advanced technology and a nearly 100-year-old tradition of stainless steel making, our factory in Avesta combine performance with precision. Together, we're shaping a sustainable future and delivering extraordinary value to our partners worldwide.
Main responsibilities include:
Initiate and lead cross-functional R&D projects.
Initiate cooperation with universities, institutes and other external stakeholders.
Provide welding & fatigue expertise to customers, internal stakeholders and R&D projects.
Collaborate with key stakeholders and ensure proper communication.
Follow up current development trends and identify potential development areas in the field of expertise.
Represent the company in internal and external assignments such as technology associations, conferences, supplier and customer visits.
Qualifications:
M.Sc./ Ph.D. in material science, mechanical engineering, or other relevant fields of study. In addition, an International Welding Engineer (IWE) degree is beneficial.
Genuine interest in research, particularly in welding metallurgy of stainless steels and nickel alloys as well as fatigue properties of welded structures is beneficial.
Experimental and theoretical knowledge in fatigue testing and assessment of welded structures and/or knowledge in different welding processes, ideally both practical and theoretical knowledge, is highly appreciated.
Proven project management capabilities.
Innovative mindset, prioritizing integrity and collaboration skills.
Working proficiency in English is required. Swedish language is considered an advantage.
