We’re now looking for an R&D Engineer to join our CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) team in Västberga, Stockholm – someone who wants to make a future mark in this core technological area of our business. We offer you the opportunity to work with R&D and cutting-edge technology in an innovative environment with state-of-the-art equipment for materials development, materials characterization and metal machining.
This position is temporary for approximately 1,5 years, due to parental leave, with fair chances of an extended employment for the right candidate.
Your mission
The CVD team within Sandvik Coromant is responsible for designing, developing, and validating coating materials for cutting tools - aiming to identity new and effective ways to ensure resilience and high performance during machining. In this role, you develop novel coating materials for CVD; contributing with your expertise in both knowledge building projects and product development projects. You actively interact with our internal and external stakeholders to ensure excellent cooperation. Managing patents is also a natural part of your job to protect our technology and innovations.
Your profile
We’re looking for someone with a Master’s in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science and we consider a PhD as highly valuable. With the position being time limited, a good understanding of the properties of CVD hard coatings is required. Developed skills in advanced material characterization or in project management are strongly appreciated. As we’re a truly global organization, you also need excellent written and verbal skills in English.
