Grades development, is responsible for developing new grades and for managing and driving all grade development projects for Seco globally. We are now looking for two R&D Engineers for Grade development in Fagersta. As there are many sides to this exciting role, we have the possibility to shape it based on your background. We are looking for senior or junior candidates with sincere passion for cutting processes and grade development. Since global mobility is an important part of our organization’s culture, this position offers you a world of possibilities – literally speaking.
Your mission
Grades are typically coated and uncoated cermets and cemented carbides. Another grade development area is super hard materials such as Ceramics, PcBN and PCD, from which material and/or application experience is of particular interest. In this position, you are involved in the whole process from first idea until finalized product and patenting. This includes taking a proactive approach to our own work; constantly evaluating our ways of working and best practices to ensure that we stay ahead of the game. To enable efficient processes, you work in close cooperation with global product managers and markets. Your analytical abilities and ability to select-and-sort relevant information are crucial. Sharing skills and best practices is an important key to success, both within your own function and with other internal networks. You evaluate methods, tools and processes to ensure continuous improvements, while following given instructions and guidelines.

We are looking for someone with a Masters’ in a relevant field, preferably Materials Design, and/or experience from working in the field with customer applications. It’s also important that you’re well situated with the types of situations that might rise within the area, as this enables you to take a proactive approach. You’re also familiar with cutting processes and experience from the steel industry is an advantage. Additionally, project management, leadership and knowledge of people management, is truly beneficial.

We are looking for someone with a Masters’ in a relevant field - preferable Materials Design - and possibly experience working with materials development within the steel industry, including good knowledge of insert tooling. Being driven and curious enables you to grow and take on more responsibilities to develop your skills further.

Since we act on the global stage, you are fluent in both written and verbal English, while skills in Swedish is a demand since we work in close cooperation with the Swedish production facilities.
