R&D Engineer, Power Electronics

Corporate Research Centre in Västerås, Sweden, is a part of ABB?s world spanning network of research centres. In Västerås, we develop new materials for electrical insulation, magnetics and conduction. We are pioneering advanced concepts for power apparatus and electrical machines. And also advance power electronics to new performance limits. Other core areas are power systems, insulation systems and technologies critical for advanced manufacturing.

Task:
Development of power electronics is being increasingly used in power systems and has become an enabling technology for many new applications. Join us in developing the next generation of power converters in the transmission grid such as HVDC and FACTS devices. You need the ability to challenge existing design and engineering practices in power electronics topologies, systems and applications. Previous experience in converters topology and power electronic systems modelling and simulation is a valuable qualification.

As a part of ABB Corporate Research you will work in dynamic, motivated and creative teams with a wide range of experience and competence with access to highly advanced laboratory facilities. Requirements:
You need a Ph.D. or similar working experience in the fields of Power Electronics. Fluency in English, excellent communication skills and high capacity for multi tasking are essential. And you must have the potential to be a good project leader.
