R&D Engineer - Temporary Position

R&D Engineer - Temporary Position

Arbetsbeskrivning

Being a leading supplier of equipment, tools, services, support and technical solutions for the mining and construction industry requires commitment. At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions, we aim to develop solutions that provide our customers in every corner of the world with the best overall experience. This also applies to our people – the bearers of innovation and culture. Come join our exciting world!

R&D Hard Materials in Västberga (Stockholm) is a development center for hard materials, investigating their use in rock drilling applications. Our field covers a broad range of materials development technology, but we work primarily with the development and improvement of cemented carbide. We’re now looking to complement our research team with a driven and competent R&D Engineer to the site in Västberga, during the parental leave of one of our colleagues. This is an opportunity to join one of the world leaders in the development of tools for the mining industry – and to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute in our R&D development!

This position is a temporary assignment for approximately one year.

Let’s talk about the job
As R&D Engineer with us, your main responsibilities will be to support the implementation of our new materials in the production. The work includes verifying the material properties and testing the components to make sure we meet quality criteria. The work is primarily performed in projects, and you will work as part of a team consisting of development engineers and technicians, while reporting to the team manager. The job involves carrying out laboratory tests as well as pilot production, and requires presence on site, both at the production and at our R&D lab facilities.

So, who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone with a Master’s degree in natural science. Experience in materials science, mechanical engineering or physics is an advantage but not an absolute requirement. Previous experience from working with R&D or with process scale up, is also advantageous. As we operate locally but in a global setting, you need to be fluent in English and Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

We place great value on your personal qualities. Being a team player with good communication skills, you enjoy working together with others; finding new ways to solve problems and sharing ideas. You’re able to balance a broad context with attention to detail, and you find work motivation in developing new solutions which will be implemented in future products – and you take pride in getting the work done with a high level of responsibility.
