You will be part of Grid Automation Products in Västerås, the global center for protection and control within the power transmission area. We have approximately 200 employees who develop, manufacture and market products as well as offer comprehensive support and services to power customers worldwide. We work in close collaboration with Hitachi Energy units in 80 countries and 95 % of the sales are exported. Hitachi Energy is the world leader within protection and control with several groundbreaking technological innovations, which through quick fault detection has improved the availability and efficiency of power transmission networks.
We are looking for a type test engineer to strengthen our R&D type test team. If you are ready to meet the technological challenges within control and protection products for power systems– together with a team of driven experts – then you can expect an equally exciting and ever-changing time ahead of you. Your main mission will be to perform type test (EMC, climatic, mechanical etc.) and certification activities of our products (such as Relion 650/670 series) for Grid Automation Products. You will be expected to execute type test projects, determine the relevant test scope, and constantly support to develop the team´s expertise, infra-structure and supplier landscape in the technical area of type testing
You will collaborate with hardware and software developers, project and product managers and many different functions that are present on-site in Västerås, in Switzerland and India.

Your responsibilities
Perform type testing and certifications, covering areas such EMC, climatic, safety, mechanical and electrical tests according various IEC/IEEE/UL standards, internally in our own R&D lab as well as at external test facilities
Configuration of the product before test according to specifications and standards
Establishment of test setup with auxiliary equipment, wiring, and supervision (e.g. oscilloscopes and PC tools)
Execution of tests
Reporting and documentation of test results
Continuous improvements work in type testing process

Your background
Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
>2 years of practical work experience of testing laboratory work and good knowledge on how to do measurements and practical work with e.g. oscilloscopes, multimeters etc
Good knowledge about environmental testing methodology, standards and procedures e.g. IEC 61000-4 series (EMC), IEC 60068-2 series (Climatic) etc
Good knowledge about hardware electronics
English is a must; Swedish is good to have
Accurate and do not neglect details, systematical
