R&D Engineer – Wear Protection

Arbetsbeskrivning

At Wear Protection, part of Crushing & Screening Solutions within Sandvik Rock Processing Solutions, we’re now looking for a Research & Development (R&D) Engineer to strengthen our Competence Center – supporting our global business and customers worldwide. We specialize in protecting equipment and structures against wear in mineral processing. Our expertise in utilizing a wide range of wear materials enables us to deliver tailored wear-resistant solutions that optimize customers' production performance.
Welcome to be part of our exciting Sandvik world!
About the job
In this position, you drive activities within product and solution development for the Wear Protection product portfolio. You’re responsible for designing wear parts that optimize performance while minimizing wear and tear – involving creation of innovative shapes, geometries, and surface treatments that reduce friction and improve wear life. Additionally, you establish materials and design specifications, and formulate condition inspection protocols.
Wear Protection parts often face complex challenges related to extreme operating conditions and you play a key role by identifying and developing wear-resistant solutions in a way that adds value to our customers. You build yourself an understanding of the properties of different materials, manufacturing processes, and testing methods to develop effective wear-resistant parts and solutions. Staying updated on the latest technological advancements, industry trends, and market demands is essential, and you incorporate emerging technologies and practices into the products to maintain a competitive edge as well as support the industry towards a more sustainable business. You hold a key position in ensuring seamless integration of wear parts into the business, as you share your expertise with our technical support team and supply chain organization.
For this job you’re based in Svedala, Sweden. However, we offer you a hybrid working location where you have the opportunity to work from home or other location a couple of days a week. Travelling to visit factories and customers worldwide is included in your job at some extent.
About you
We’re looking for someone with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering, or a related field. You have a solid understanding of materials properties, design engineering and manufacturing processes. Demonstrated proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), especially SolidWorks, and knowledge of engineering simulation software like Magmasoft as well as Teamcenter PLM is considered a plus. Experience or strong knowledge in metal casting process will also capture our attention. As our Competence Center is based in Sweden and we operate globally, you need good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing, while knowledge of Swedish is a plus.
We’re fascinated by your passion and personality – characterized by being positive, innovative and having a strong commitment, as well as a motivational approach, and hands on attitude. You’re interested in new technologies, and how to introduce these in our future product offer. Combine this with a solid technical foundation and you’re our ideal candidate for this position.
