R&D Engineers

Arbetsbeskrivning

Are you ready for an exciting challenge; working in an international environment that provides good development opportunities? Would you like to be part of building up a state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing Center? Then we look forward to your application!

Sandvik is a global industrial group with advanced products and world-leading positions in selected areas: tools for metal cutting, equipment and tools for the mining and construction industries, stainless materials, special alloys, metallic and ceramic resistance materials and process systems.

The Additive Manufacturing Center at Group R&D is a corporate initiative to evaluate AM as a technology for the Sandvik Group. The focus of the AM Center will be to evaluate the possibilities for Sandvik's use of these new technologies. This will be done in close collaboration with our different business areas (BAs). We are now looking for innovative R&D Engineers who want to take part in building a new R&D team in Sandviken!

Key performance areas
As R&D Engineer your responsibilities are to initiate and run research projects in the field of additive manufacturing. Together with other AM team members you run our AM equipment and you are responsible for posting analyses of parts made. In this role it's of great importance that you build a network, with overall responsibility for contact with other Sandvik units as well as universities and other research centers.

Furthermore, your responsibilities include exploratory work on process and equipment within the field of additive manufacturing.

Your profile
We are looking for someone with an MSc or a PhD in Materials Science or a similar field (i.e. metallurgy, physics or chemistry), combined with experience from one or several of these areas:

- Additive manufacturing (AM) (electron beam melting, laser beam melting, binder jetting or other AM techniques or hydride AM techniques)
- Powder metallurgy (stainless steels, tungsten carbides or other Sandvik relevant materials and knowledge about sintering processes)
- Material characterization (elemental analysis, microscopy LOM and SEM, Phase determinations, diffraction techniques, stress measurements, evaluation of mechanical properties, etc.)
- 3D design for AM or machining (knowledge of CAD drawings, Magic software, other relevant software used by AM technology)

Good communication skills in English are a prerequisite for the position, and knowledge in Swedish is advantageous.

As a person you are a communicative team player, with a passion for innovation and new technological discoveries. Knowledge of Sandvik's products and production processes or similar products and processes are a merit and you are familiar with hands-on work in the lab and know how to handle metal powders. Furthermore, you should be able to work independently but also in close teams, understanding the importance of creating a strong diverse team. Finally, you have a structured way of working and strong technical competence.

We place great importance on your personality in this recruitment.
