R&D Engineers within Product Development

The Tube product area, within the business area Sandvik Materials Technology (SMT), is specialized in seamless tubes and pipes and associated parts. SMT's new strategy has a strong focus on utilizing our unique competence within materials technology to grow within the energy segment and other strategic growth areas.

In order to implement SMT's and product area Tube's strategy, Tube R&D will be adding resources in the unit for product development of wet corrosion applications, such as in nuclear, fertilizer, automotive and other interesting industries where stainless steels are used. The Wet Corrosion Applications unit is now looking for R&D Engineers within Product Development.

Key performance areas
As an R&D Engineer you will work with the development of products used in wet corrosion applications. Your main responsibilities will include to:
- Conduct materials studies and review results in technical reports and presentations
- Manage technical problem solving for product and material related issues
- Initiate, lead and participate in product development projects
- Support the organization in responding to customers' questions about our products
- Represent SMT in technical contexts, such as meetings with customers and conferences

Your profile
We are looking for someone with preferably five years' experience and a Ph.D. or similar qualification in Chemical or Material Engineering or a similar field. You have previous experience working with product development and good knowledge of material science. Knowledge of corrosion and mechanical properties and their test methods is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are a prerequisite for the position, and knowledge of Swedish is desirable.

For one position, it is an advantage to have knowledge of nuclear applications and related corrosion issues. You have the ability to design and evaluate advanced trials as well as building test equipment.

In the other position, it is advantageous to have knowledge of the automotive industry. Knowledge of fatigue testing and corrosion-related issues in different fuel mixtures is an advantage, as is project leading experience.

You have good analytical abilities, a strong will and great enthusiasm, and you can see development opportunities for both yourself and the business. You also have a genuine interest in technical issues and materials.
