Eton Systems was founded in 1967 and was sprung from Eton Fashion, a Swedish company making shirts since 1928. Early on Eton Fashion realized the benefits of streamlining its production process, minimizing downtime, and utilize factory premises better. This led to the development of Eton Systems – the world’s first UPS system.

The most recent incarnation of the original Eton UPS concept is now gaining recognition as the industry standard for precise and comprehensive production control by leading global manufacturers. No other system offers the same level of flexibility, quality, and return on your investment. We are proud of our system. And we think it shows.

Today there are more than 4 500 Eton systems installed in over 75 countries and in different production areas, including garment, home textiles, furniture, plastic, and automotive industries. The Eton Systems' headquarters is situated in Gånghester, outside Borås, in Sweden, where approx. 50 people are working. An additional 10 employees located outside Sweden.

Eton Systems has an industrial owner in Karnell, an investment company with a long-term horizon and an ambition to develop smaller non listed companies that operate within the industrial sector.

The position

The R&D Manager will be a key player in developing Eton Systems into a state-of-the-art systems solutions company to support its growth ambitions. The focus for this role will be on software but also hardware and firmware, and you will be leading the R&D team with developers in all three areas. In total nine direct reports, two of them being team leaders and two are consultants.

Eton Systems is currently going through an interesting phase of modernizing ways of working. This role offers the possibility to work close to an industrial and production environment, being part of a management team with a wide area of responsibility.

You will report to CEO, be a part of the Management Team, and be based in the headquarter in Gånghester.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the R&D strategy together with the management team
• Be a hands-on leader and executing the strategy together with your team
• In addition to new product development also handle existing product portfolio and patents
• Researching industry/technology trends and using knowledge for business improvement
• Contribute to that R&D department is involved in supporting customer projects
• Analysing performance and drawing up action plans
• To effectively communicate with other departments within the company
• Contribute to a stimulating and entrepreneurial culture

Qualifications, Experience & Personality

For this position you ought to have a relevant engineering university degree or equivalent professional qualifications. Experience of leading an R&D team with projects involving software development along with experience in automation and production logistics is an ideal background. It is a great plus if you also have an understanding of lean. This position acts nationally and internationally and requires fluent English and Swedish, verbal and written.

You have the experience and ability to influence both team and stakeholders.
