R&D manager Cepheid

Cepheid is a leading molecular diagnostics company that is dedicated to improving healthcare by developing, manufacturing, and marketing accurate yet easy-to-use molecular systems and tests. In our facilities in Solna / Sundbyberg we develop and manufacture diagnostics tests that improve patient outcome all over the world.


We are now expanding our team and are looking for a research manager to take on the responsibility for R&D staff. Responsibilities include formal performance reviews, development plans, salary revisions, making hiring decisions, assigning roles and responsibilities within the team. This role supports projects within the department and can make decisions in assigned projects. For assigned projects the research manager has a responsibility to ensure that the project meets requirements for design inputs and outputs, design verification and design documentation for new and improved products developed within the framework of the company’s development plans.
All tasks should be performed with high quality and within timelines following relevant internal and external guidelines and regulations.


To be successful in this role you should have previously demonstrated leadership skills and in depth understanding of state-of-the-art science and technology development in the industry, as well as technical expertise. The individual shall also be able to take a new perspective on existing solutions, based on the analysis of multiple source information.


Education or Experience (in years):
University degree in field with 8+ years of related work experience.



Knowledge and skills:
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills within biotechnology or similar.
High-level knowledge about molecular biology and PCR including assay development and optimization is desirable.
Manages one or more generally homogeneous teams; adapts departmental plans and priorities to meet short-term service and/or operational challenges.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent ability to structure, organize and prioritize work.
Interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders to a sustainable long-term product development.
Able to adapt to applicable regulations
Excellent communication skills in English
