R&D Manager for Deep Hole Drilling

Sandvik Coromant produces and delivers tools and tooling systems for the metal cutting industry. We are now looking for an R&D Manager for Deep Hole Drilling, to be part of the R&D Management team within the product area Rotating Indexable Tools, and to lead a team of five coworkers. The position is based in Sandviken and offers great networking opportunities with stakeholders and specialists worldwide, while aiming to ensure our success factors: our working principles, project teams and close interaction between functions, global external customers and competence centers.

Key performance areas
As R&D Manager you will lead a team with the overall technical accountability for Sandvik Coromant?s products, within the specific product families.

Your responsibilities include:
- Coaching, developing, leading and inspiring team members as well as others
- Cutting tools research and product development
- Improving our way of working
- Performance management
- Planning and follow-up of various competence development activities
- Cost control and financial forecasting
- Project management within R&D

This position includes approximately 25 days of traveling per year.

Your profile
In order to succeed in this position, you need to have a degree within engineering or the equivalent knowledge acquired elsewhere. You have at least a few years of managerial work experience, perhaps as Project Manager or Product Development Manager, preferably within the metal cutting and tooling industry. Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is prerequisite.

You are a people-person, whose natural leadership skills and genuine interest in people and their development are consolidated by your solid theoretical and practical know-how. You always aim to keep a holistic view, have excellent communication skills and consider changes to be opportunities to improve. Furthermore, you are comfortable both prioritizing and delegating tasks, and sharing your competence with others.
