Work description
We are looking for an experienced and passionate R&D Manager to lead and inspire the highly skilled engineers within the department that is responsible for the development of high voltage cables systems.
As R&D Manager you will manage a diverse research and development group consisting of project managers and specialists, who are accountable for execution and development of R&D projects on-time, all according to NKT requirements and in coordination with other areas.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that your team has the competence, knowledge and capacity required for current projects. An important part of the job is to inspire, develop and motivate your team. Your own technical knowledge and understanding will make an important contribution to the team members.
You will communicate with stakeholders and leaders to support the group’s internal priorities and impact. You will also be responsible for the department’s budget, investments, resources and forecasting and for developing and maintaining strategic R&D plans.
The role contributes to advancing the company’s leading position within the industry, due to technical solutions and cost-efficient solutions within the market areas.
Finally, as part of a global environmentally friendly organization, you will have the opportunity to build a network by participating in conferences and gatherings that take place around the world.

Who are you?
To succeed in this role, you are a strong leader and a solution-oriented person with good communication skills. Your drive and result oriented personality are coming together in a leading technical role.
You have experience in senior positions, have led a team and have handled risk analysis, projects, budget and personnel. Experience in project management within development is a plus.
Your leadership is described as assured and strong, while you also care about your co-workers as individuals. You encourage creative problem solving and bring both energy and drive to strengthen your team.
You have a strong technical interest and understanding and it´s to your advantage if you have some kind of technical background as well. Experience within engineering and design of submarine cable systems is also a plus.
The logical and detailed analysis of data and processes is important and are factors for your success.
In this role you strive to achieve results and you show flexibility in your approach and at the same time you are capable of handling a changing environment and challenging situations.
In order to excel in the role as R&D Manager at NKT you have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in relevant areas such as material-, electro- or physics engineering.
Excellent English and Swedish language skills are required.
