We are now looking for an R&D Product Safety Engineer. In this role you will be part of GPQSS (Grid Power Quality Solutions & Service). Join our innovative team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of cutting-edge technologies for power grid applications. As a key player in our R&D projects, you will assess and mitigate safety risks, guide teams in applying safety design principles, and develop guidelines for product safety. You will also create and deliver training materials for our engineers, support customer projects, and collaborate with product management to align our safety strategy with customer needs and expectations.

Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for assessing and mitigating safety risks in ongoing R&D projects
Guide R&D teams in proper application of safety design principles compliant with norms and standards, with focus on applying chemical energy storage technologies for power grid applications
Together with the responsible line management define and implement guidelines for Product Safety to be used during Product Development
Create training materials and support training of our R&D engineers
Support customer projects in product safety issues.
Together with our Product management and R&D experts, you contribute to our safety and reliability strategy, engage with end customers and ensure our strategy aligns with needs and expectations.

Your background
You have a university degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, chemical or similar field.
Proven work experience from Power generation, oil & gas, power grids or similar.
Preferably experience in safety and reliability engineering practices related to chemical energy storage systems on utility scale level, like batteries, super capacitors or hydrogen.
Knowledge of the relevant norms, standards and directives (Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive (2006/42/ec), ISO 12100, IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, and proven track record in applying these in an industrial environment.
Certified as CMSE (Certified Machinery Safety Expert) or comparable
