We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermal management to join our Applied Physics team at our research center in Västerås, Sweden. As a research scientist in the global Hitachi Energy Research organization, you will work on multidisciplinary research projects developing cutting-edge technology for our next and next-next generation of power systems and products.
How you´ll make an impact
Propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects to develop optimized and innovative design concepts for next-generation products in power systems.
Identify, analyze and solve complex problems by performing CFD, Thermal and Multiphysics simulations for high power applications.
Continuously learn new methodologies and tools within the competence area and apply them to Hitachi Energy’s products and applications.
Work closely with our global team of researchers in Hitachi Energy Research, our business units, universities and industrial partners.
Build your network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise.
Disseminate your results in technical reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.
Contribute to shaping Hitachi Energy’s technology strategy in the area via multi-disciplinary interactions inside and outside the company.
Your background
You preferably hold a PhD in relevant field or a master’s degree with equivalent professional experience
Excellent problem-solving skills, both analytical and numerical, with deep theoretical understanding of transport phenomena and heat transfer
In-depth knowledge and experience on working with complex industrial flow problems including free convection, forced convection and multiphase flows. Knowledge about two-phase cooling technique is a bonus.
Excellent skills and working experience with CAD/CAE modelling and CFD/FEM analysis. Extensive experiences with commercial software, i.e. FLUENT, COMSOL. Experience on working with open-source CFD software, e.g., OpenFOAM is very appreciated.
Solid programming skills and scripting experience in CFD software. Interest and experience in AI/ML is beneficial.
Experience in modelling industrial cooling and/or thermal management of electronics is very valuable.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, team player attitude, initiative, and creativity.
You have good communication skills, and you are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
