We are looking for a Senior Electrochemical Specialist for Battery Material Development. Your location will be Stockholm, Sickla. You will be working in Biomaterial Division and report to R&D Manager.

As a R&D (Senior) Specialist you will help to develop, optimize, and commercialize new innovative bio-based carbon for sustainable batteries, with a special focus on electrochemical aspects. You will join a highly motived international and interdisciplinary team, and work closely with internal and external R&D partners, pilot operations, business development, and customers.

The global battery market is expected to expand rapidly within the next ten years, enabling new solutions in the fields of consumer electronics, e-mobility, and residential energy storage. Qualifications
In order to succeed in this role you have a PhD degree in electrochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field. 2+ years industrial and/or academic track record in battery R&D (after completion of your PhD studies). Comprehensive general knowledge of materials and components for electrochemical energy storage, especially for batteries.
Proven practical and theoretical knowledge on electrochemical analysis methods, especially on electrochemical test protocols for anode materials and full Li-ion cells.
You also have the capability to work and think at a laboratory and a pilot scale, with solid understanding of relevant analytical and technical chemistry. You also have experience with writing scientific and technical texts.
As a person you are a good team player who can keep calm and be on top of everything. We value your ability to prioritize and make decision even when the information is incomplete and time limited. You always listen and hear people out and with your great problem-solving skills you see changes as new possibilities. You have a strong scientific and technical background combined with structured analytical thinking; hands-on can-do attitude, problem solving ability, and results-driven approach. You have ability to transform challenges into new opportunities and to work independently as well as in an international and interdisciplinary team; self-motivated individual with innovative mindset. You have the ability to translate project goals into clearly structured technical and scientific tasks and willingness to perform practical work in our in-house laboratories. Develop new methods for the same, as well as to drive forward activities in our pilot plant in Sunila/Kotka (Finland), and at external R&D partners.
You speak English, fluent in word and writing on negotiations level and a willingness to travel (up to 10% of work time).

Some of your Main Responsibilities
Design, conduct, and contribute to scientific research and development activities in the field of electrochemical energy storage, with a focus on carbon-based anode materials for batteries. Create innovative ideas and solutions to develop new materials and to optimize existing materials. Act as electrochemical expert, performing electrochemical analyses, developing new electrochemical methods, guiding lab engineers, and translating customer needs and requests into new test procedures.

The Biomaterials division meets the growing demand for the replacement of products made from fossil-based and hazardous materials with bio-based solutions. We use all fractions of biomass, like lignin and sugars, to develop new solutions. We work to replace fossil-based materials with new applications such as carbon for energy storage, bio-based binders, and bio-based carbon fiber. The division's offering includes a wide variety of pulp grades to meet the demands of paper, board, tissue, textile and hygiene product producers as well as materials from side streams of our processes, such as tall oil and turpentine from biomass.
