Vattenfall R&D is responsible for conducting business driven technical development creating added value for the company and supporting our strategy. We work in teams close to the business of Vattenfall. The corporate R&D unit employs 130 colleagues located in three different offices in Sweden and Denmark. Your responsibilities as R&D Structural Engineer for Offshore Floating Wind
In assisting the Vattenfall initiatives to develop offshore floating wind power foundations, you will be involved in the process to evaluate, create and verify robust civil engineering concepts. Defining structurally efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions that can meet the harsh offshore conditions will be part of the work. The design and assessment can include e.g. layout and structural analysis by analytical calculations or numerical modelling to verify sufficient performance. Development of new or verification of existing construction materials using laboratory testing will also be part of the work. The projects will be executed in close collaboration with senior experts and laboratory staff from several technical fields.
Qualifications
As R&D Structural Engineer for Offshore Floating Wind, you hold a Master Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent.
You have documented experience from
Offshore construction techniques
Structural engineering, concrete and steel structures
General Finite Element Modeling (FEM)
Certification of offshore structures
Skills and experiences from the following technical areas are advantageous:
Seakeeping and marine operations
Mooring systems and fairlead design
Cable dynamics
Within the scope of your expertise, you can be involved in R&D tasks from other areas than offshore.
You are a person who has a general understanding for different technical areas on an overall level. Civil engineering background with a couple of years of experience from working with structural engineering within research and/or structural design.
To succeed in this role, you have the ability to plan and prioritize your work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals. You collaborate and relate openly with others but are not afraid of taking initiatives and to work independently. We believe that you have the capacity to drive the process from idea to practice, encourage diverse thinking to reach the goals. This role demands that you have great skills in multi-mode communications with the understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
Additional Information
Location. You will be working in the R&D section of Infrastructure Laboratory. The location for this position is Älvkarleby, Sweden.
