You will be part of HVDC within ABB Power Grids in Ludvika. HVDC technology has been on the market for the past 60 years and is used to transmit power through long distances at minimal loss, using overhead lines, lands and sea cable systems. Do you have a strong interest in embedded systems development and experience from a professional development process? Join us in the development of advanced electronics, mechatronics and software for HVDCs and FACTS control and protection functions. We are responsible for development of MACH Control & Protection platform for HVDC/FACTS applications. The embedded systems R&D team within MACH operations organization is responsible for FPGA and low level SW development in the MACH Platform.
As R&D Team Manager, you will manage approximately 14 experienced employees and consultants with full budget responsibility for the team. You will ensure efficiency, manage and develop our competence pool. You will also have the ownership for the embedded development process.
Your responsibilities
Developing and driving continuous improvement activities to optimize processes, policies, procedures and team effectiveness.
Guiding, motivating, coaching and developing the skills, knowledge and competencies of the team.
Working closely with customers to shape and deliver technical solutions and utilizing feedback to drive the delivery of innovative improvements and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Building, developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external (customers, universities, etc.) contacts.
Contribute in ensuring that the cross functional teams are adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs.
Supporting the allocation of budget for UMOE and taking ownership of managing business performance against agreed-upon financial targets and constraints.

In addition to the manager role, you will also be an active part in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) such as Epic Owner, Product Owner or similar.

Your background
The successful candidate should have a Master’s degree in engineering, with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience within development.
Management experience, and preferably also with recruitment process knowledge.
Knowledge and experience in FPGA and/or SW development.
Experience from working in an agile organization, preferably SAFe.
Solid competence in technologies, tools and methods in own specialist area, demonstrated through solving complex industrial challenges.
Strong commitment towards safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines.
A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
