The Role
We have an exciting opportunity at Polestar for a R&D Program Controller who can work within a fast-paced and challenging start-up organization. You will play an important role in the Polestar UK team and global finance team supporting Polestar in its growth and expansion. In this finance role, you are a member of a dynamic and developing team. You will be working closely with future car projects, with the development team in UK. This role is key to steer the profitability of our future products.
Your contribution
Your main responsibility is to be the finance voice in the technical program team and Polestar UK R&D office. In the program team you will be responsible for lead and run cost activities for future products material cost, investments and engineering spending. Your key objective is to create quality assured input to our business case calculations to be used as base in vehicle programs and corporate decisions. You will be placed in Gothenburg, but frequently travelling to our UK office. Direct report to the Head of operational control and indirect to Program Finance Business Controller and Industrial program leader at R&D.
Examples of tasks are:
• Lead, plan and quality assure major deliverables within the program
• Support the technical team with financial expertise
• Drive Benchmark activities in cost and investment levels.
• Constantly challenge the business and contribute in the strategic discussions in material cost development and further investments.
• Controlling material cost, investments and engineering cost.
• Prepare business cases
• Provide and present the financials in program and R&D operation.
• Be part of building up the controlling for the product development
• Interface and related parties are Program Business controller, R&D, purchasing.
• Drive and coordinate cross functional initiatives
• Become a member that will actively contribute to set up and develop a new finance team
Who you are
We think that you are a person with a lot of energy and broad experience in material cost and investment and previous experience from automotive. You like to be involved in details but also being the one that understand the big picture. In this role it’s important to being able to interpret and communicate financial information in a clear and concise way.
Other important skills for this role:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration (or similar)
• Minimum 3 years work experience
• Strong business acumen and very good material cost and investment knowledge
• Good financial knowledge
• Ability to plan, coordinate and execute work with many different stakeholders involved
• Fluent in English
• Very good Excel skill
• Good team player and team building skills
