Can someone with an engineering background recruit?


We are a successful team of 25+ recruiters in Volvo Group Recruitment Sweden looking for new colleagues. Most of us have traditional backgrounds from Human Resources and other soft competence areas. That’s how it usually looks if you visit any random recruitment department in the business. This time, we want to try something different. We want to step outside of the box and challenge our preconceived ideas on who is capable of doing professional matchmaking and not. So, this time we are turning to those of you who have an education within the fields of engineering or IT. We think you have been working as an engineer for quite some time, you speak the engineer lingo, you understand what the Volvo Group’s technical solutions and products are really about, and you are good at it too. But perhaps you have always felt that something was missing in your everyday work life? Perhaps that extra interpersonal and relational touch, that you just cannot get from working purely with production planning, software development, or problem solving?


The Volvo Group is on a transformation journey to sustainability and is in the middle of a significant competence shift, requiring new competencies within the field of Digitalization and Electrification. We need to attract the best candidates out there; the only problem is….so is everyone else in our business.


Your main responsibility as a Recruiter is to secure the future talent needs within the Volvo Group. We need to hire recruiters who actually know what this competence shift is about, who can analyze what’s really important, which competences are crucial, and which are not. Use your engineering knowledge, combine it with soft skills, communication and relationship building, and help the Volvo Group to find the true stars out there, so that we will stay in the forefront of digitalization, technical innovation and top-of-the-line solutions and services.


Volvo Group Recruitment is represented by local recruitment teams in Volvo Group’s primary locations, in total 80 people in 6 different countries. Core Responsibilities
You will drive the end-to-end recruitment processes by identifying, attracting, assessing, and recruiting talents from all over the globe. This includes working with candidate sourcing, screening, and short-listing of candidates, conducting assessments and competence-based interviews. You will also provide guidance and training to Line Managers and Human Resource representatives on recruitment related topics.


Experience and skills that will make you successful
We believe that you have an academic degree in engineering or IT (or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience) and that you are fluent in English and Swedish, both written and verbally. If you have prior experience from working as any type of leader, it is seen as positive.
