We are now searching for a registered nurse for the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital in Linköping. 

Job description
The Department of Neurology at the University Hospital in Linköping consists of an out-patient clinic and an in-hospital ward. The in-hospital ward has a stroke unit and a unit for the care of patients with general neurological diagnoses and we have a around the clock admission of patients in need of care. In hospital we do medical investigations and treat adult patients with a wide variety of neurological (nervous system) symptoms. These can affect their brain, eyes, limbs, speech or swallowing. Large patient groups in our ward are patients suffering from a stroke and patients with Parkinsons disease. Multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, hydrocephalus, myasthenia gravis and Guillain-Barré are other diagnoses are an example of other groups of diseases we investigate and treat.

We are currently employing both general and specialist nurses in our in-hospital ward and are looking to hire more. As a nurse you are a part of a multiprofessional team around the patient. You take responsibility for ensuring that medical prescriptions are completed and that patients receive the care they need. You supervise new employees and students and often act as supervisor. You also have a lot of contact with the patient´s relatives.

The position as a nurse includes working shifts (evenings, nights and weekends). Experience of working with patients with stroke or other neurological diagnoses as well as experience of monitoring care is good, but not a requirement.

The department of neurology at the university hospital in Linköping values education, progress and innovation. We employ 7 lead nurses who, besides their clinical work, work with developing specific nursing processes and mentoring junior nurses which gives our department a great structure for introducing new colleagues.

Requirements
Registered license as a nurse within the EU/EEA

Basic computer skills

English and Swedish language skills

Personal characteristics
You should have a positive attitude, a good cooperative ability and can handle different situations in a constructive way. You should enjoy working in teams with different professions.

Terms of employment
Before moving to Sweden you need to reach a certain level in the Swedish language and have your medical training recognized by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare https://legitimation.socialstyrelsen.se/en/licence-application/.

The employment will start with a trial period, combined with further language studies. If the trial period will be proved satisfactory and you demonstrate required skills recognized by the County Council of Östergötland, it will automatically turn into a permanent employment.

All contracts follow local and national collective agreements. Salary is set individually depending on your qualification and experience.
