Regulatory Affairs Manager, Marine Safety – eMob/New Technology

The department of Product Safety Compliance (PSC) is now looking for a Regulatory Affairs Manager to focus on the areas of electromobility / new technologies within Marine Safety.
About us
The Safety Compliance department is responsible for Regulatory Affairs and Regulatory Change Management within product safety, where we actively monitor the development of new product safety regulations and standards worldwide, in order to support Product Planning from the head-office in Gothenburg with correct information regarding future product requirements and project target values as well as ensuring product/project compliance with applicable legislation over time.
The transformation journey means introducing electromobility, automation and connectivity into our marine applications. These new technologies bring new safety risks and new regulatory environments. To manage this will be vital for our future success over the next coming years.
The Regulatory Affairs work will feed into other important parts of the PSC responsibility for type approval and product certification of marine and industrial products.
The PSC department is part of the function Quality, Environment and Product Compliance. PSC currently consists of twelve highly engaged and qualified people who look forward to meeting their new colleague.
In the role as Regulatory Affairs Manager you will also be part of the cross-functional Regulatory Affairs team at Volvo Penta.

In this vital position you will be present at all stages of planning and product development that are affected by safety regulations; from influencing new regulations / standards together with other stakeholders in society, through implementing these new requirements in Volvo Penta’s processes, projects and products, and finally follow-up of targets and requirements. Since interaction with both external and internal contacts are crucial for achieving results, good networking and communication skills are of high importance. As Regulatory Affairs Manager at PSC a strategic mind and ability to set targets are required. The job requires travelling in periods.
Core responsibilities
Within areas of Marine Product Safety:
Monitor/influence new/future trends, regulations, standards affecting existing and future products
Establish regulatory targets and compliance requirements related to product safety for new products and projects together with Product Planning
Support Safety Compliance Engineers in interpretation and application of regulations and standards
Desirable experience and qualifications
Master of Science degree or similar level of education
Experience within the field of Product Safety
Experience in the field of New Technologies, e.g. electromobility, automation and connectivity
Regulatory experience
A structured and accurate way of working
Fluency in English is an absolute minimum
Fluency in Swedish gives a strong advantage
Good communication skills, both in terms of reports, presentations and in discussions
