RTE Release Train Engineer for Software Integration & Release, Vehicle Tophat

What we do
Vehicle Tophat is one of six development units within Research & Development at Volvo cars. Vehicle top hat develops interior and exterior solution/systems. The unit is located in Gothenburg and Shanghai. Software Integration & Release is an enabling ART (Agile Release Train) with the purpose to build the SW Continues Integration flow within the Vehicle Tophat unit. We provide skills within SW testing, HIL rigs, SW integration and SW release flow.

What do we offer?
We are looking for a Release Train Engineer to our enabling Agile Release Train (ART). We build our domain test rigs and supporting Vehicle Tophat teams with new test rigs and equipment strategies as well as Continues Integration framework. We are also the locomotive of the digital change in Vehicle Tophat and should drive change across the Unit to make Continues SW Integration a natural part of the daily work. We are offering you to be part of an exciting journey on a new ground breaking area for this unit. With that comes a significant challenge for this role. We work with agile principles to create the best possible flow and working environment.

What you will do
As a Release Train Engineer you will be a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART) by driving and organizing the ART events and assist the teams in delivering value to the larger solution/system. You will be a part of and collaborate closely with the ART management. You’ll help the engineers in our teams by removing obstacles, support the teams to solve impediments and escalate when needed according to the agile principles. You will be responsible for managing and optimize the flow of value through the ART and establish and communicate the annual rolling calendar for iterations and program increments (PI). You are also expected support ART celebrations for ART achievements. Furthermore, you will safeguard long term operational strategies in close collaboration with the Test Architects and Product Owners.

What you need to bring with you?
We believe that you are a person who shows courage, act with integrity and trust that create a positive environment driving the organisation forward. You create clarity, you coach and give the prerequisites for teams ensuring strong accountability. You are also a team player, strong on collaboration, communication, building and keeping networks. We see that you have an engineering background, university degree or equivalent experience in the concerned area as well as documented leadership skills. Experience of automotive engineering is preferable. Understand the Volvo Product Development processes is beneficial. Fluency in English written and spoken, as well as a Drivers’ license are required for this role.
