The Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology conducts research and offers education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Research, the predominant activity, is often done in collaboration with corporate and international partners. We are one of the university’s largest, oldest and most well known departments, encompassing five interacting scientific fields: biology, chemistry, material physics, applied physics and theory and modelling.

We are looking for for one or two Research Assistant positions within the division Sensor and Actuator Systems, at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM).
Your future work assignments
Your tasks will consist of assembling hardware components, sensor characterization, and system validation in laboratory environment. Based on an existing gas sensor system prototype, you will develop and test five identical systems to be used for indoor air quality applications. The work assignments include intensive laboratory work and a high level of independence on performing your tasks.
As a research assistant, you will be responsible for the sensor system integration, characterization of gas sensors, and validation tests. Your work assignments will focus on the research activities concerning the H2020-NMBP-ST-IND-2018 EU-project SensMat “Preventive Solutions for Sensitive Materials of Cultural Heritage”.
Your future workplace
You will work at the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM), within the research division Sensor and Actuator Systems (SAS). You will be part of an international and multidisciplinary team with focus on sensor analytics and technology, applied physics, and engineering for air quality monitoring applications. The working language will be English.
Your qualifications
We are looking for someone who has the following:
• Bachelor degree or equivalent in physics, engineering, computer science or similar fields
• Some experience in laboratory work especially related to assembling of electronic components, gas sensors, instrumentation, and sensor system integration
• Knowledge and experience in applied physics and electronic engineering are a merit
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills
• Good knowledge in English
• Aptitude for teamwork with organizational independence
Form of employment
100% for 3 months.
Starting date
By agreement.
