Research assistant at the Division of Manufacturing and Design of Wood and Bionanocomposites

The research assistant will be located at LTU in Skellefteå.LTU Skellefteå has app.65 employees involved in teaching, research and postgraduate studies.Research is conducted within the new Division of Manufacturing and Design of Wood and Bionanocomposites (MaDe Wood).


Our goal now is to further strengthen LTU's research setting by establishing a position for a research assistant in Skellefteå with a speciality on wood based composites and bionanocomposites.

Wood fiber consists of small microfibrils and crystallites which can be used as reinforcing agents for different polymers materials.By using renewable nanoreinforcements in biopolymers we expect that it will be possible to develop novel bionanocomposites for packaging, biomedical, automotive etc.applications.

Subject Description
The subject of bionanocomposites involves production of nanocomposites based on renewable resources as example wood or residues from wood and/or agricultural industries.The focus of this research will be material development including processing, characterization, performance and understanding the relationship between these.

Duties
As a research assistant at Division of Manufacturing and Design of Wood and Bionanocomposites you will develop the new research area on "processing and characterization of bionanocomposites based on renewable resources".Your duties will include formulating grant applications, implementing projects, supervising doctoral students and participating in the development and implementation of programmes and courses.



Qualification requirements
A person who has taken a doctor's degree or who has a foreign qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate shall be qualified for appointment as research assistant.

.Teaching skills are considered an additional qualification
.Satisfactory ability to seek out, lead and carry through international research projects
.For applicants whose native language is not Swedish, the ability to communicate and teach in English is a requirement.

.In the case of identical qualifications, applicants of underrepresented gender at the university will be given preference
