Research assistant in CHILD (Children-Health-Intervention-Learning-Development

CHILD-researchers study factors that influence development, learning and health in children. A major focus is to develop and test research methods for studying complex phenomena such as health and learning in children with disabilities and children at risk.
Description

The research assistant will be attached to the CHILD research environment and mainly funded by the Swedish Research Council. CHILD aims to produce cutting-edge research and foster international collaboration that improve interventions leading to a good life for children and families.

The purpose of the position is to participate in data collection and documentation in the field of child participation and engagement related to preschool environments in different countries. The focus is on structural and process differences among preschool environments in relation to engagement in children with disabilities and children at risk.

This position involves a variety of opportunities including:

(1) preparation and implementation of a research project in collaboration with partners from Portugal, South Africa, USA and Australia.;

(2) a focus on the use of research methods to handle complex phenomena; and

(3) being part of a research environment with an interdisciplinary and international perspective.

Qualifications
A degree on advanced level in special education, education, psychology, early intervention, developmental science or comparable with focus on the life situation and interventions for young children who needs extra support beyond support provided to all children, with 240 ECTS whereof 60 ECTS on advanced level or credits equivalent.

Good knowledge in Swedish, English and in statistics.

Employment
Over a two year period, the research assistant will participate in a research project about child participation and engagement and be part of the CHILD research environment at Jönköping University. Possibilities to apply for a doctoral position may be offered.

Start date is during fall semester 2014. The position has an anticipated start date of September 1, 2014 and latest October 1st, 2014. Interviews for the position will be held in May 2014 and may be performed through web-communication.
