The Faculty of Technology has broad operations spanning ten different departments through which Linnaeus University provides education and conducts research. The faculty has approximately 3100 students at the undergraduate and advanced levels, 90 doctoral students and 300 teaching staff including administrators. The Department of Computer Science and Media Technology has an international reputation, and it currently has more than 75 faculty members, who have conducted research in major areas of computer science and media technology such as software engineering, visualization and visual analytics, embedded and adaptive systems, artificial intelligence and learning and knowledge technologies. Our mission is to educate the next generation scientists to bring about scientific and technological innovations to the nation and to the world.
Terms of employment: Part time, 80 % position.
Type of employment: project based and 15 months from the start date.
Location: Växjö
Start: Immediately or after mutual agreement.
Work description
You will work with designing, implementing, organizing and completing different activities related to the development and use of Maker Technologies (3D printing, micro-controllers, Robotics, Visual Programming, Drones, IoT solutions, etc).These activities can be creating and developing new prototypes, trying out new technologies, organizing hands-on workshops and events. You will work in teams together with colleagues with different skills and background utilizing different Maker Technologies. These efforts will take place in the context of a number of external funded research and strategic development projects supported among others by the EU commission, The Swedish Research Council, The National Agency of Education and a couple of industrial partners.
Requirements
We are looking for a creative and driven colleague with proven experience in Maker Technologies who is used to working with different people, from idea conceptualization, designing and planning to implementation and follow-up. As you will be actively carry out research and development activities in different projects, you should have the ability to identify needs and turn them with your professionalism into requirements and innovative solutions that provide an added value. You have good communication skills and master different technologies and tools in order to create solutions according to different target groups and purposes. The position requires that you can work towards deadlines and handle several parallel projects.
You have an academic degree, so the candidate fulfils the requirements for this position if he/she has:
–A completed academic undergraduate program with a focus on mechatronics (mechanical/computer engineering) and additional 60 credits at the advanced level
–Or the equivalent knowledge obtained in or outside of Sweden You have also a few years of documented work experience as Maker Technologies Developer.
We give great importance to your personal qualities and value the ability to take responsibility for delivery and work both independently and in groups. You must have good knowledge of English has many of the activities are carried out with international partners. We want you to supplement your application with a portfolio of projects that you have worked with in recent years.
