In the Ponzetta team we strive to understand the role of immune cells participating to the anti-tumor response (Ponzetta et al, Cell 2019), to identify new therapeutic targets and disease-associated immune traits.

Your mission
We are looking for a research assistant who will be working together with PhD students, postdocs and research nurses to investigate the location, phenotype and function of innate and adaptive immune cells, primarily in the context of gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma (GEAC). A full-time position is available for 6 months with the possibility of extension. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to strengthen her/his current experimental skills as well as learn new cutting-edge techniques. Experimental duties will include the isolation and functional characterisation of immune cells in cancer patients, with a particular focus on unconventional T cells. We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organized person with excellent communication skills and ability to interact with collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:

- Isolation and storage/biobanking of cells from fresh human blood and tissues collected from cancer patients, cell culturing, basic flow cytometry and other analytical techniques.
- Optimization of an ex vitro expansion system for healthy or tumor-infiltrating human T cells.

Your profile
Requirements:

- Master’s degree in Medical Science, Immunology or equivalent when the position starts
- Experience in cell isolation from human blood or tissues, culturing of primary cells, DNA/RNA isolation, ELISA, qPCR and data analysis.
- Previous experience with multiparametric flow cytometry/cell sorting
- Capacity to fluently speak and write in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and references from previous work environments.

Meritorious:

- Experience in working with immune cells, particularly T cells
- Excellent organizational skills
- Previous contribution to scientific publications
