Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment
The Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment works with applied environmental research. Having the national responsibility for environmental monitoring and assessment of lakes and watercourses is a key factor in both the quality and societal impact of our research, which encompasses aquatic ecology and biodiversity, geochemistry and hydrology as well as environmental chemistry and aquatic ecotoxicology. Half of the Department’s 120 staff members are researchers and PhD students, while the other half provides qualified technical support. The department is part of the Soil-Water-Environment Centre at the SLU campus in Ultuna, Uppsala.
Duties:
We are seeking a university-trained research assistant for sample preparation and chemical analysis of organic environmental pollutants (e.g., PFASs) at trace level in water samples using liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). The duties also include data processing, statistical evaluation and report writing in English.
Qualifications:
Applicants shall have a Bachelor or Masters degree in organic environmental chemistry or equivalent. Experience of laboratory work in organic environmental chemistry is required and experience of chemical analysis of water and soil samples using advanced mass spectrometry are merit. Good language skills in English (oral and written) are required. Good knowledge of organic environmental pollution and experience in data processing, report writing in English, and statistic evaluation are merit. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.
