Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology
The department offers a stimulating international research environment. The research at the department focus on fundamental and applied research focused on interactions involving microorganisms and plants. Forest and plant pathology, biodiversity microbial ecology and nutrient cycling in forest and agricultural ecosystems are central. The research infrastructure SLU Metabarcoding Laboratory -UMBLA - is located at the department. UMBLA offers molecular laboratory service for projects that conduct community studies of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms. The service includes DNA extraction, PCR amplification and sample preparation for massive parallel sequencing.
UMBLA is looking for a research assistant to increase our capacity. You will work in the facility of the department togeter with the ordinary personnel.
Tasks:
Your work task will be to support different research projects the use the service of UMBLA. You will have to independent perform laboratory work, e.g. DNA extraction and PCR when preparing samples for sequencing.
Qualifications:
We are looking for someone with a master in molecular biology/biotechnology or equal merits. It is qualifying to have experience from laboratory work. It is also qualifying to have experience from DNA extraction, PCR, Q-PCR and knowledge in sequencing. You should like to work in collaborations and be able to work independently.
You should be well organised, experience with computers and with the software Excel are meriting.
