On 1st January 2010, Linnaeus University opened its doors for the first time as Sweden’s newest university, the result of a merger between Kalmar University and Växjö University.The department of mathematics are now looking for a research assistent position in theory of p-adic dynamical systems and their applications.
Context of position
The p-adic dynamical systems group at the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Technology, Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Linnaeus University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position intheory of p-adic dynamical systems and their applications. Linnaeus University provides an international and dynamic environment for the training of young researchers and the research group in theory of p-adic dynamical systems is one of world’s strongest groups.
The successful candidate will be based in the Växjö campus, and will work on development of pure mathematical theory of p-adic dynamical systems with possible applications to information security and biology. Approximately 20% of the time is dedicated to teaching and supervision at the undergraduate and advanced levels. The position is initially limited to two yearsfull time. The contract can start immediately. Participation of women in research is encouraged.
Bases of assessment Qualification requirementsThe eligibility requirements are a Ph.D. in Mathematics. The applicant must have completed her/his Ph.D. studies no more than seven years before the application deadline.
Other grounds of assessment
• Documented background and experience in the proposed research area are advantageous. Research track record including minimum of three peer-reviewed research publications is required; stronger publication history a plus.
• The applicant has to be ready to work on applications of his/her purely mathematical results to problems of information security and biology.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
• The applicant is assumed to have the ability to conduct research within the described area, with demonstrated skills to generate new ideas and innovate.
• Interpersonal skills and flexibility are of great importance since the work is done in a research group having an extended network of international cooperation.
Weighting of qualifications
• Ph.D. in Mathematics and good publication history.
