Context of the position
Linnaeus University was established on January 1, 2010, through the merger of Kalmar University and Växjö University. The university conducts teaching and research, mainly at campuses in Kalmar and Växjö, but also in other locations in the region of Småland. The announced Research associate position in Computer Science with specialization in Digital Learning is located in Växjö, at the Department of Computer Science. It might require presence in the Kalmar campus from time to time as well. The Department of Computer Science is one of ten departments in the Faculty of Technology at Linnaeus University. The department of has a solid and dynamic research environment with extensive international exchange. Around 15 PhD students and 3 professors and 10 associate professors are active in various research areas.

The position is within a KKS funded project and aims to create a sustainable model for development and implementation of flexible education at an advanced level for IT professionals by bringing together academic excellence and research innovation with industry expertise and requirements in order to strengthen the competitive advantages of the Swedish IT industry.

Duties
The research associate tasks will include: 
1. Active involvement in the research group for digital technologies and learning.
2. Planning and executing a longitudinal assessment plan that will investigate the impacts of the project deliverables at three levels: personal, company and IT branch level.
3. Around 30% time will be dedicated to teaching and other departmental tasks. 

Qualifications
The position requires a PhD in Computer Science or an equivalent degree. The applicant must have completed his /her Ph.D. studies no more than seven years previous the application deadline. 

The research associateshould hold a PhD in Computer Science, in topics of relevance such as innovation in technologies for educational computing, learning at scale (MOOCs, open educational resources) or other relevant areas in the field. 

The candidate must possess the capacity to initiate and conduct research within the described areas. Furthermore, interpersonal skills and flexibility are of great importance since the work will be carried out in a research group. 

As part of the research work will be done in connection with the industrial partners a good knowledge of the software industry processes and prior working experience in the sector will be considered an advantage. 

It is essential that the candidate is proficient in English. Knowledge of Swedish is considered an advantage.

Appointment time?
The research fellow position is a full time position. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of four years.
