Research Coordinator

SLU is recruiting a Research Coordinator to strengthen support for research and internationalisation at the university. We are looking for someone driven with excellent interpersonal skills and experience in research funding and project and process management in a research environment. You will work with important societal challenges in collaboration with researchers, public authorities and other societal stakeholders. As a Research Coordinator, you will work with researchers across all of SLU. You can be placed at any of SLU’s main sites; however, we would ideally like you to be based at our campus in Alnarp. Organisationally, you will belong to the SLU Grants Office, which is part of the Vice Chancellor’s Office.

Duties:

As a Research Coordinator, you will support researchers with large and complex funding applications. You will work with individual researchers and groups to develop concepts, describe potential impact, plan effective project implementation and quality control, and to some extent, manage internal university processes. You will work on several processes/proposals in parallel. You will focus particularly on excellence applications such as the European Research Council (ERC) and the Wallenberg Foundations. Your tasks may also include other support related to research funding, such as monitoring funders/funding opportunities, training, support to university management, communication and outreach.

Qualifications:

You have a university degree and substantial experience writing large and complex research grant applications. Experience in international collaboration and managing large international projects would be an advantage. Experience from working with research support services or in research funding agencies, and knowledge of strategic communication, would also be an advantage, as would research training and experience in evaluating grant applications.

Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required. Knowledge of Swedish, spoken and written, is not a requirement but would be an advantage. SLU’s language policy requires staff to be able to absorb information in Swedish after four years as an employee.

As a person, you are communicative and express yourself well in both writing and speech. You are service-oriented, responsible, flexible, and can independently organise and complete tasks. Good leadership and interpersonal skills are essential. You are motivated, respectful, and a good team player, and you are strongly committed to research and development. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability for the position.

Place of work:

Alnarp, or one of SLU's other main sites. The position involves domestic and international travel.

Form of employment:

Permanent employment. SLU may use probationary employment.
