The Department of Electrical Systems have in cooperation with corporate research areas and business units the responsibility to identify and develop technology strategies, technologies, technology platforms, new concepts and intellectual property for ABB business and in particular power products and low voltage products. The department is also expected to contribute with competence and resources for consulting and troubleshooting when requested from the business units. Establishing efficient international collaborations with leading universities around the world is also within the responsibilities of the department. Expected deliveries from the operations include: Technology platforms and intellectual property for new products as well as new product and system concepts. High visibility and quality (scientific) publications and top quality competence and people for transfer to the business units.
Task:
Coordinate research and development in the responsibility of the department and reports to Research Center Manager. Ensures alignment of strategies and processes to fulfill strategic technology plans. Serves as technical and scientific resource and/or provides technical support to internal (direct reporting managers, researcher colleagues and co-workers, business units etc.) and external contacts (customers, technology groups, R&D funding bodies, educational institutions etc.). Ensures that technical results and competences are in world class. Responsible for running, maintaining and developing excellent local laboratory resources (people and equipment), in particular Electrical Insulation and materials labs, Switching labs, High Voltage measurement labs, Magnetics and applied physics labs, Tribology lab.
Requirements:
You need to have an experience from leading teams with a focus on operational planning and process development. Typically accountable for budget and policy recommendations and medium term planning. Managing through first line managers mainly in function area. Focus balances leadership and subject matter expertise.
