Position description
The School of Business, Society and Engineering is looking for a research engineer in energy and environmental engineering. The position involves working within the research specialization Future Energy Center (FEC). The work is part of the research activities conducted for the FUDIPO project at FEC.
The goal of the project is to develop learning systems. As part of this we have made physical models of boilers at Malarenergi and now run them as “digital twins”. Input from process measurements are fed into the model on-line and calculations made of how the process should perform if running as expected. The deviation between the model results and on-line measurements are compared and the development of the deviation by time used as input to diagnostic systems for fault detection. From this we predict different probabilities for different faults, both process and sensor faults. We also do data reconciliation by using this, and thereby can predict most probable value of different sensors. As input to the models we also measure NIR spectra from waste and use this together with the other system for model-based control (MPC) of the boiler. The project work is to run these systems and perform continuous updating of the models with new experience to build a learning system.
The position is a temporary employment of 7 months at 70-100% scope.
