Reference number 316-719-10 Research engineer in chemometrics/bioinformatics with focus on metabolomics to the Department of Chemistry, Umeå University The Computational Life Science Cluster (CLiC), located within the Chemical Biological Centre (KBC), Umeå University, host expertise in bioinformatics and chemometrics.CLiC aims to stimulate, organize and advance computer based modeling, tools and strategies to understand complex biological systems and e-bioscience in close collaboration to experimental and clinical science.This includes a close collaboration with the metabolomics platform at Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC) with expertise in metabolomics analyses and state of the art mass spectrometry equipment.Work content In the frame of a newly initiated program at Umeå University in understanding neurodegenerative disorders based on metabolomics, we seek a research engineer in chemometrics/bioinformatics.The applicant is expected to work in the Computational Life Science Cluster (CLiC) in close collaboration with the metabolomics platform at UPSC and medical researchers at the medical faculty and Umeå University Hospital.The project involves application and development of data processing and analysis methods for metabolomics data.The work will also include mass spectra database handling.Qualifications The successful candidate should have a PhD degree in chemistry or similar with emphasis on chemometrics or bioinformatics.Background and experience regarding processing and analysis of metabolomics mass spectrometry data is meriting.The applicant should be able to work in a team.Form of employment The position is up to two years, with possibility for extension.Starting date by agreement.Application The application should include (i) Curriculum Vitae (CV), (ii) a description of earlier research, (iii) list of publications, (iv) names and contact details of two reference persons and (v) a one page personal letter describing yourself and why you are applying for the position.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.If you are applying to several positions with diferent reference numbers, you must submit a separate application for each position.For more information, please contact Assoc.Prof.We look forward to receiving your application!
