Information about the division
The Chalmers Mass Spectrometry Infrastructure (CMSI) is a infrastructure within Chalmers with the goal of providing efficient quantitative and qualitative mass spectrometry and structural identification analyses for researchers at Chalmers and beyond. The infrastructure provides a combination of service analyses and supported analyses for training students in analytical mass spectrometry. Beyond providing analyses, CMSI also develops new methods based on new and novel concepts within analytical chemistry to ensure that researchers have access to the best possible solutions for their research projects.
Job description
As a research engineer at CMSI, you will be part of a team consisting of laboratory engineers that interacts with the users of the infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain CMSI´s laboratories at high standard and to ensure that the instruments are qualified at the level required in time. This requires independent troubleshooting of the instruments and methods, often together with the users and, thus, you will also work in collaboration with the research groups using infrastructure services. You will also perform routine analysis, seek to improve the workflows and methods at CMSI as well as maintain relevant registries and risk assessments in order to guarantee safe working environment in the laboratories. This position will report to the director of CMSI.

Your qualifications
You should have a MSc in relevant field and have experience in using and maintaining a range of different analytical instruments including HPLC´s and mass spectrometers. You work comfortably in a research environment and have excellent time management skills. The work requires high level of independency, but is done as part of the team and, therefore, good communication and collaboration skills are essential. You should be fluent in speaking and writing in English.
