We are looking for a Research Engineer to our Fluff Pulp R&D Team within Biomaterials Innovation.
Your location will be Stockholm, Sickla. You will be working in Biomaterial Division and report to R&D Manager.

Fluff pulp is used mainly as absorption material in diapers and feminine hygiene products, but also for fabric-like napkins and tabletops made of so-called airlaid nonwoven. Stora Enso is Europe's largest manufacturer of fluff pulp and the pulp is produced at our Skutskär mill situated north of Stockholm. The development and innovation of fluff pulp takes place in close co-operation with the operations in Skutskär.

What we offer
You will be part of a team that works with customer driven innovation and product development of fluff pulp with sustainability in focus. You will drive R&D project tasks, perform experimental work and be responsible for instruments and methods within the area. You will frequently meet and interact with other functions within our fluff pulp business as Technical Customer Service (TCS), Operations in Skutskär and Product Management. Since there is close connection between the production process and the product performance, it is an advantage to also have an interest to learn about the fluff pulp process in Skutskär. In some of the tasks, you will also meet and interact with our external customers.
Qualifications
In order to succeed in this role, you have a Master degree or equivalent knowledge.
As a person you have a strong scientific and technical background combined with structured analytical thinking; hands-on can-do attitude, problem solving ability, and results-driven approach. You have ability to transform challenges into new opportunities and to work independently as well as in an international and interdisciplinary team; self-motivated individual with innovative mindset. Experience from pulp and paper industry is a benefit. You speak and write English fluent.

Examples of responsibilities and tasks
Planning, executing & reporting R&D project tasks in the fluff pulp area. Develop new ideas, new methods and processes on lab scale.
Product testing and benchmark studies. Be responsible for fluff pulp laboratory, instruments and materials. Be responsible for safety at your own work and ensure that safety procedures in the laboratory are followed. Participate in collaborations with customers, universities and research institutes.

The Biomaterials division meets the growing demand for the replacement of products made from fossil-based and hazardous materials with bio-based solutions. We use all fractions of biomass, like lignin and sugars, to develop new solutions. We work to replace fossil-based materials with new applications such as carbon for energy storage, bio-based binders, and bio-based carbon fiber. The division's offering includes a wide variety of pulp grades to meet the demands of paper, board, tissue, textile and hygiene product producers as well as materials from side streams of our processes, such as tall oil and turpentine from biomass.
