Context of the project
The ATTRACT Phase-1B project aims to consolidate a European innovation ecosystem focused on breakthrough detection & imaging technologies.
Research infrastructures, as providers of advanced services and as procurers of cutting-edge technologies, have a potential for innovation that has not always been sufficiently exploited. Opportunities arising from the development of components, instruments, services and knowledge for the implementation and upgrade of research infrastructures could be better exploited to push the limits of existing technologies. There is clear potential for innovation associated with procurement from industry during the construction and upgrade of research infrastructures.
The aim is to encourage research infrastructures to act as early adopters or developers of cutting-edge technology, to promote R&D partnerships with industry, to facilitate industrial use of research infrastructures and to stimulate the creation of innovation clusters.
This activity shall also support training and/or exchanges of staff managing and operating research infrastructures.
A co-innovation approach to continuously generate, scale and deploy breakthrough technologies with market and social value needs to be adopted by research infrastructures.
