Solid wood products, pulp and paper have long been parts of our product portfolio. Sustainable energy products and chemicals from forest-based raw materials represent exciting future prospects. Development and implementation of biorefinery processes are, therefore, integral parts of our business development and R&D program. For this reason, SCA R&D, a leading research environment within Swedish forest industry, is now recruiting a Research Engineer, Biorefinery Technology
Research Engineer, Biorefinery Technology
Join us at one of the strongest R&D centers within Swedish forest industry!
Your next challenge
SCA is developing new businesses, projects and technologies for commercial production of biofuels and biochemicals, based on residues and by-products from the forest industry.
We are currently looking for a Research Engineer specialized within the fields of hydroprocessing, heterogeneous catalysis, hydrocracking, or similar, to develop process technologies for the conversion of different biogenic raw materials.
As SCA’s technical expert, you will be essential in many of the high potential projects, requiring the ability to quickly understand and adapt to the needs of different stakeholders. All projects are being developed with external partners, including companies from the oil industry and technology developers, in order to accelerate the development. The Research Engineer will be involved in many different projects and work closely with people from other companies.
Transforming needs into practical research work, your tasks will include close collaboration with colleagues at SCA R&D and other parts of SCA. For this reason, your ability to quickly understand and adapt to the needs of your stakeholder will be most useful.
In addition to laboratory tasks, you will be working in our pilot plant for the conversion of lignin or black liquor into hydrocarbons. This will include design improvements of the chemical process technologies and, for this reason, mechanical skills and process design competence will be of benefit.
Who are you?
You have advanced chemical engineering skills and a deep interest in biofuels and biochemicals. You have a drive to solve complex technical problems and enjoy working in creative teams.
Your educational level is at least M.Sc. Chemical Engineering with specialization in relevant fields. You have some industrial experience or, alternatively, academic competence within heterogeneous catalysis or hydroprocessing. In addition to laboratory work, you will be working in pilot scale and industrial environments, independently as well as part of teams. Your diligence, communicative skills and your ability to, as our technical expert, pass on knowledge to others will be of essence. We will need you to be creative, take initiatives and suggest improvements, without losing focus on the overarching goal.
You have excellent command of the English language. Swedish language skills will be considered advantageous.
Your conduct reflects the SCA Core Values: Responsibility, Excellence and Respect.
What can we offer you?
SCA R&D Centre is a hub for technical competence within several areas. Consequently, you will have many skilled colleagues in addition to a dedicated manager supporting you. With many contacts, internally as well as externally, the position is suitable for the one who is empowered by building long-term relationships.
We offer a stimulating, varying and eventful work environment. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. Therefore we are looking for individuals who want to make a difference.
At SCA, we care for you as an employee. We emphasize the importance of healthy workplaces and provide you with opportunities to thrive within a sustainable company.
