We design and manufacture innovative smart aerospace systems and components. Every time you travel by air almost anywhere in the world, it is likely that GKN is helping you on your way.
We are looking for people who want to make a difference, talented members with the skills and passions to become the best of the future in what they do.
Job Summary
Driven by the vision of sustainable aerospace innovation, GKN Aerospace develop large scale additive manufacturing, saving waste material and creating new design concepts for lower weight and integrated functionality. The technology target engine structures in advanced material, in sizes up to 3 meter in diameter.
Global Technology Center (GTC) in Trollhättan are looking for a research engineer for developing control system for the DED additive manufacturing process, based on our ABB robot laser cells. The role focus on evaluation and integration of sensors, data analysis and programming of control system algorithms. Everything with the focus to develop a qualitative and effective process.
We are looking for you who have a desire that spans over programming, mechatronics and practical work in the lab. You will spend a lot of time in the robot-laser laboratory for development of equipment and running tests, everything from design of experiments of simple tests pieces to large-scale prototypes.
Curiosity for learning and understanding the process are crucial and a deep interest to apply that to achieve a robust manufacturing system for aerospace products. Working with technology development will require a self-driven character and that one take ownership to independently progress as well as document your tasks.
The GTC have around 75 employees and is a part of GKN Aerospace Engine System. The GTC develop technologies and run development programs for product demonstration of new design concepts, often in the framework national and EU-programs together with OEM customers. The GTC competence spends over turbomachine design, product development, advanced material, manufacturing technologies, digitalization...
