Research Engineer in Autonomous Motion for Autonomous Transport Solutions

Research Engineer in Autonomous Motion for Autonomous Transport Solutions

Arbetsbeskrivning

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Are you a curious, dedicated and responsible person that finds leading the way toward sustainable and autonomous transport solutions to be exciting?

At Autonomous Transport Solutions (ATS) Pre-Development & Research, Scania R&D, we pursue top-quality research and development of future cutting-edge ATS concepts. We operate in agile and self-steered teams that work in close cooperation with the Volkswagen group, leading technology suppliers and academic institutions, with the ambition to detect and evaluate upcoming technologies. Our culture is built based upon delivering added customer value through research and practical experiments that iteratively lead to concepts for industrialization.

Does this sound like an interesting technical area? Then send us your application and we will be happy to give you a more detailed explanation.

Your responsibilities

You will be working in an agile multi-cultural research team within R&D. Our team, Motion Control, is responsible for concept creation, software development and evaluation of longitudinal and lateral control approaches for autonomous vehicles.

The success factor of our team is the iterative test-focused development with rapid prototyping, enabled by a flexible autonomous vehicle platform. As a Research Engineer, you contribute to designing, developing and evaluating strategies to control the autonomous vehicle, i.e., making the vehicle follow a planned trajectory. More specifically, you will be involved in the methodological development of new controllers to address the current and future challenges within motion control for autonomous vehicles.

You will work in close collaboration with other teams (e.g., localization, motion planning, vehicle actuation) to make sure the system connects as a whole and the desired performance is achieved.

Your profile

You will feel at home in our team if you are a team player, attentive and humble with the ability to drive technical development forward.
We want you to have an MSc and technical experience in the areas of control theory, vehicle dynamics, robotics, and/or system identification. You are fluent in English both in writing and in speech.

Extra meritorious is a Ph.D. within relevant research fields and experience in one or more of the following:

• Designing controllers: MPC, LQR/LQG, PID, H2, Hinf, etc
• Vehicle dynamics and control
• System identification and modeling
• Motion planning
• Knowledge and experience within software languages such as C++, C, and MATLAB along with a keen interest in programming
• Experience within agile development and robotic systems

We offer

At Scania ATS Pre-Development & Research, we want you to succeed and develop, because together with your team you contribute to a sustainable future, securing a leading position for Scania in the autonomous vehicle industry.

Working at Scania you are offered benefits such as a mutual performance bonus, occupational pension, flexible working hours and much more. If you live in Stockholm, we offer our direct bus service between Stockholm City – Liljeholmen – Södertälje, the Scania Job Express.
