Research Engineer in Modelling of Machining

The department for Metal Cutting Research is an internal competence centre with the objectives to develop knowledge and information needed for process simulation of metal cutting.Secondly, to perform and support product development work related to machining theory, machining dynamics, and product development methods including e.g.knowledge enabled engineering (KEE).Thirdly, to support machining applications internally and externally.Typical working methods at the department include analytical, mechanistic and numerical (FEA) methods.This is a post with conditional tenure, but will primarily be related to a specific R&D-project aiming at to develop and establish a technological platform.Key performance areas In the project you will be responsible for the part of the platform aimed at modelling, prediction and optimization of machining processes.This involves responsibility for: - Development of methods, procedures and models within the prediction/optimization field, including analytic, mechanistic and FEM-based prediction and optimization of machining process conditions and cutting data.- Software related to the area.- Analyses, evaluations and field-tests.- Integration of prediction/optimization technology and formalized knowledge into the platform.- Responsible for external and internal contacts within the area.The project is performed in a cross-functional team involving colleagues from different knowledge areas.The work also includes contacts and collaborations with internal and external network, universities and customers.Your profile For this recruitment we welcome persons with MSc or PhD in related fields.Good skills in solid mechanics, dynamics, optimization and machining processes are important for this position.Experience of metal cutting, process planning and metal cutting applications is a plus.Good communication skills, both verbal and written at all levels of contact, in Swedish and English, are essential.
