Arbetsbeskrivning
Research Engineer - Lab.Manager The new position is intended as a collaborative one with Technical Chemistry and Energy Technology and Thermal Process Chemistry environments.Technical chemistry is one of the research environments within the Department of Chemistry.Technical chemistry carries out research and post-gradual researcher education within the areas of sustainable chemical technology, reaction kinetics, catalysis (particularly structured, heterogeneous inorganic as well as enzymatic catalysis), modeling of chemical reactors, biorefinery (particularly lignocellullosic biorefinery), biotechnology for processes and energy utilization. To this group we now search a person with extraordinary skills and interest in construction, maintenance and operation of laboratory scale experimental apparatus, i.e.flow-through reactor setups, reactor systems involving both gases and liquids, high-pressure and high-temperature systems and alike. At the same time, keen interest in research is a must: after construction the various unique setups are used in collaborative research projects with Academia and industry. As a 'laboratory manager' the person is also expected to participate in active research projects and can have a role in the educational activities. The ideal candidate has: a true interest in design, assembly and maintenance of complete small-scale research equipment and instrumentation; knowledge of Swagelok (www.swagelok.com) fittings; experience in assembly, basic welding and other metal workshop machinery use is highly desirable; setting up data logging interfaces to PC's, e.g.Labview; degree in chemical engineering/chemistry.The position can be arranged either as a Research Engineer (doctoral degree) or as a Technician-Researcher, depending on the actual qualifications of the person.During the course of the project, one or several training periods are expected at the Laboratory of Industrial Chemistry and Reaction Engineering, Åbo Akademi University , The position will be initiated for a time-period of two (2) years with a possibility to prolongation if research resources are available The research focus is on future, bio-based fuels and chemicals as well as development of the processes within the biorefineriers. As a minimum, applicants are as a rule required to have fulfilled one of the following prerequisites: (1) 240 ECTS-credits (Swe.Högskolepoäng) of higher education studies, 90 points of which should be in chemistry/chemical engineering and/or related subjects and 15 from advanced levels (Master), or (2) 120 Swedish (old) credits (swe.poäng; i.e.180 ECTS-credits) if the studies were taken prior July 1, 2007, or (3) the equivalent of a Bachelors of Science with Honors (B.Sc., Hon.) and a Masters of Science (M.Sc.).Any additional information can be obtained from Prof.Home page: www.chem.umu.se/personal/lankar/mikkola/index.html.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.See complete ad: http://www8.umu.se/umu/aktuellt/arkiv/lediga_tjanster/316-424-09.html
