MAX IV Laboratory has operated successfully for more than 30 years and runs the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, from Sweden and the rest of the world. They will do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. 200 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory.
MAX IV, inaugurated June 2016, is the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in national research infrastructure and the brightest source of X-rays worldwide. MAX IV Laboratory is hosted by Lund University.
Tasks:
The tasks include:
- Understanding/modeling of all accelerator magnets.
- Systems ownership of all accelerator magnets (including responsibility for reliability, uptime, and maintenace).
- Develop required magnetic measurement procedures, carry out magnetic studies and document.
- Develop new magnet designs for extensions/upgrades in collaboration with accelerator physics, vacuum experts, mechanical/electrical engineers.
- Assist in specification and procurement of new magnets or replacements for existing magnets.
- QC of new or replacement magnets (including possibly magnetic measurements, calibration, and documentation).
Qualifications:
The successful candidate has a university degree in engineering and/or physics and has an extensive magnet engineering experience, preferably room-temperature accelerator magnets for synchrotron light sources. Experience in room-temperature magnet design as well as magnetic measurements and documentation is required.
In this position the candidate must be able to work independently, take responsibility for projects and collaborate well with engineering and physics experts from a broad range of fields. Very good skills in English, both oral and written, are required.
