As a Research Engineer you will play an important role in our Applied Mechanics team, where we emphasize building up our long-term competency within simulations and experiments. We can offer you work in an international environment on a team that works with both areas.

Sandvik Mining is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry. The offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.

We are currently looking for a Research Engineer for the Measurement area of our R&D Applied Research team within Product Area Global Tools and Services.

Key performance areas
As a Research Engineer at R&D Applied Mechanics, you will contribute to improving our general understanding of rock drilling and assist in verification of computer-based simulations through your measurements. You will have to define new measurement techniques and utilize those in combination with common measurement technology in order to collect high quality measurement data.

Your profile
We are looking for a PhD degree in Solid Mechanics, Experimental Mechanics or a similar field, or alternatively, an MSc in Engineering with several years of experience in the field. You are well acquainted with measurement assignments and are knowledgeable about solid mechanics. The position requires good English skills, while good knowledge of Swedish is advantageous.

As a person you are curious and creative and see obstacles as new opportunities. You are a good team player, but can also work independently. The position requires that you have analytical ability and are comfortable tackling technical challenges and are inspired by them. You must be comfortable with research team methodology in both defending and abandoning your views in accordance with the different phases of problem solving.
