Research Engineer-Medical Products

Within Sandvik Materials Technology there is an increasing interest in the medical market.In order to strengthen the resources in research and development we are now looking for a research engineer who will work with product development of medical products.The work is performed in close collaboration with both market and production units within Sandvik Materials Technology. The research for emerging technologies takes place within the department for New Segments at the R&D centre at Sandvik Materials Technology, and the placement for this position is Sandviken, Sweden. Key performance areas You will be the responsible project leader for one or two highly prioritized projects.The projects include theoretical studies as well as practical lab scale or production scale experiments, and technical trend analyses.You will be the supporting link and follow the project from concept generation, product development, and all the way to market introduction.This position gives you the opportunity to work with advanced research and development, in an inspiring environment, as well as participate in introducing new products within a highly prioritized emerging market for Sandvik Materials Technology. Your profile The qualified candidate will have a MS degree, and preferably a PhD, in Material Science, Metallurgy, Materials Chemistry or equivalent educational background.You need to be a creative, motivated, self-driven person with a strong patience and will to drive projects all the way from applied research to the finished product. Since the work involves many contacts both within the company and towards customers and other collaborators it is important that you have the right personal skills, i.e.flexibility, creativity, the capability to create and maintain contacts, and a structured way of working. Sandvik Materials Technology is an international work environment and you are expected to be highly skilled in spoken and written English. If you have previous experience from research and development work from the metallurgical and/or medical industry, and experience from project management it is a merit.
