The Beamline Office is a group within the Science Division at MAX IV that consists of three teams that address different tasks and responsibilities.
This temporary position is in the coordinators team that primarily focus on organizing support to the beamlines in project management, beamline installation and maintenance.

MAX IV are looking for a versatile Research Engineer that can support various activities on the beamlines.
Your main work tasks will be
- Coordination of activities and projects between the different beamlines and technical support groups within the MAX IV laboratory.
- Direct support to beamlines in technical questions concerning service, installations and maintenance.
- Contribute to the implementation of the new maintenance management software tool.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications
- You have an engineering background and a bachelor or masters degree in industrial equipment, mechanics, maintenance or similar.
- You have a good general technical understanding and a relevant knowledge of complex instrumentation.
- You are used to communicate with scientific and technical personnel keeping always an overview of the wider facility demands and deadlines.
- You have some project management experience.
- You are good at and have experience in collecting and compiling information in a structured way, e.g. lists of equipment, inventories.
- You communicate without any hindrance in English, both written and spoken
Below are seen as merits
- Any experience of beamline related support and infrastructure systems. (e.g. vacuum, cryogenics, ventilation, gases, cooling water, PLC and motion control.).
- It is an advantage if you have mechanical design and drafting experience.
- Experience in assets management, focused in software tools and maintenance processes.
- Experience working at synchrotron or any other light source facility. e.g. as a research engineer on one, or preferably several beamlines or central support groups.
As a person you are outgoing, convincing and someone who pays attention to details. In addition, you enjoy interacting and collaborating with people from different groups in order to provide excellent service. You are structured and able to establish new routines and procedures when needed. You enjoy being present on the experimental hall floor and at the beamlines and you are excited about not knowing which challenges the day might bring. You like finding solutions where there are no established routines yet.
