Research Engineer to Market Leading Company

The New Technology section at the research department of BMUM Unit Mobile Platforms is responsible for research in the areas of software, multimedia, and security.To broaden the competence of the multimedia team we now search for a research engineer within Multimedia Architecture.The company is headquartered in Lund, Sweden, where a majority of the company's approximately 1,800 employees are located.We also have operations in China, Germany, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. About the position The complexity and demands of the multimedia system architecture on mobile devices increase constantly.Of great importance for a successful platform product is the ability to cope with a multitude of multimedia user scenarios, efficient power handling, and providing scalability across all market segments.The multimedia system of the platform is used for many different services, ranging from the very simple, such as handling keyboard input, to advanced tasks as mobile TV and 3D games that requires seamless co-operation of many parts of the platform.As a research engineer at this position you will work with a component based multimedia system.A framework handling power control and scheduling of multimedia tasks is to be designed.Multimedia software scheduling is based on many system aspects such as synchronization, latency, power usage, HW acceleration, CPU load, and memory/cache usage.Consequently, to succeed in this work it is necessary to consider the platform as a whole rather than the single components that constitute it.Apart from the above, an important factor to consider is an operating system agnostic solution. Another aspect of the work is to acquire knowledge within new areas, demonstrate concept designs in software, and actively interact with the development units in order to understand their needs and transfer knowledge to them.Your background Formal Education Needed is a master or doctoral degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field such as Electrical Engineering or Technical Physics.The objective of our work is to accomplish a flexible and sustainable multimedia architecture for the mobile platform.To broaden the competence of the multimedia team we seek a person with the following competencies: 1) Knowledge of and experience from software development in C and some scripting language 2) Experience of soft real-time scheduling, RTOS/Linux, low-level software, and ASIC power management 3) Good communication skills, both verbally and written 4) Ability to identify which details of the embedded system are important and necessary to investigate further, while at the same time grasping the overall picture The employment This position is located in Lund, Sweden and it is a local contract.The position will start with a test period for six months where you are employed by Academic Search.After this, if you, the team leader and the other team members feel good about each other and want to keep on working together, a regular employment will be offered.
